Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce pellets in a given shape automatically, by a method wherein molten high molecule material is supplied to a pair of rotating rollers having a large number of perforations. CONSTITUTION:A molten, kneaded high molecule material is fed through a discharge port 5 of a mixer 1 into between rolls 6 and 7, both rolls 6 and 7 being turned inward. The high molecule material is drawn into between the rolls 6 and 7, and is pressed into perforations 10 with the pressure produced at an adjacent part to a portion where the two rolls adhere closely to each other. This is repeated, and a constant volume of the high molecule material is extruded into cavities 8, 8 through the perforations 10, once each revolution of the rolls 6 and 7. The material extruded into the cavities 8, 8 is sheared in turn to a given size by means of cutters 12, 12 and so sheared material is simultaneously cooled by water or air for hardening to form a given-shaped pellet. The pellets are discharged through a side opening of the roll 6 by the use of and togetherwith water and air passing through the cavities 8, 8.
