Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for a screw extruder, to enable the reduction in an installation cost and area, and to enable resins to be molten, kneaded, and granulated in a continuous process, by a method wherein a kneaded material discharge unit of a kneader is provided with an extruding function.
CONSTITUTION: A material extruder having a pumping function, such as a gear pump 6 and the like, is located at a discharge port 5 of a continuous type kneader 1, the extruder being connected to a means 8 where the resins are formed in a strand. The means, in turn, is coupled to a cooling device 10 and a granulation cutting device 12. A resin material is continuously and quantitatively fed through a hopper 4 to a mixing chamber 3 where it is kneaded by means of rotors 2, 2. The material so kneaded is then pressed out continuously and quantitatively by means of the gear pump 6 and the like, and is extruded through a stand die 8. The material formed in a strand in the manner described above is cooled through the passage in a cooling bath 10, being cut by means of a granulation cutter 12 to be pelletized.
