Abstract

PURPOSE: To let the liquid layer of tin penetrate into metal surfaces and accomplish firm welding by providing tin plating layers on the metal surfaces to be welded and fusion-bonding these through electric resistance welding.
CONSTITUTION: In the case of fixing a pipe 1 to a copper plate 3, a tin plating layer 6 is provided on the surface of a saddle 5 made of copper plate having a curved part 2 fitting to the pipe 1 and provided with bonding pieces 4 at the both ends and spot welding 7 is done to the bonding pieces 4 and copper plate surface 3. In the weld zone 7, tin melts instantaneously owing to electric resistance, due to which the liquid layers 8 of tin are produced and the tin liquid layers 8 alloy to the copper of the saddle itself and the copper of the copper plate surface 3, thereby becoming bronze. Hence, the welding is done at higher tensile force and firmly as compared to that by simple copper.
