Abstract
PURPOSE: To make fabrication extremely easy, and to permit desired selection of the thicknesses, shapes, sizes, etc. of cladding by welding the adjacent wire-like or belt-like cladding materials wound in tight contact with the spiral ruggedness on the surface of an electrode core material to each other.
CONSTITUTION: While wire rods 2 such as stainless steel of good heat and corrosion resistances are wound in tight contact with the adjacent wire rods on the surface of a base material 1 of good conductivity such as copper which is a core material for a composite electrode, these are welded. The welding is accomplished by welding 9 the material 1 and the rods 2 and welding 8 the rods 2 to each other with Ar arc welding torches 3, 4. The rods 2 assume, for example, a triangular sectional shape, and such ruggedness with which said shape is brought into tight contact is formed on the surface of the material 1. The contact areas between the material 1 and the rods 2 are increased by this, whereby the conductivity is improved and the rugged parts are wound and joined in such a way as to be gnawed in. Therefore, the stable conductivity is maintained without decreasing the joining strength against oscillations, thermal strains, etc.
