Abstract

PURPOSE: To make pilot arc starting easy by low current output and stabilize arc by connecting a reactor in series to the resistance of the stabilizer.
CONSTITUTION: A stabilizer 6 is connected between a nozzle 1b and the work 2 and the stabilizer is constituted by a reactor 6a having an arbitrary inductance connected in series to a resistance 4a and further a capacitor 6b connected in parallel with this series circuit. The reactor 6a has the action to suppress the starting current at the pilot arc starting and the action to suppress the ripple of the pilot current. The capacitor 6b has the bypass action for high-frequency current. Hence, at the pilot arc starting, the high-frequency current of a DC TIG power source 3 flows between the electrode 1a and nozzle 1b owing to fluid gas 5, but the rush current at the starting is suppressed by the reactor 6a, by which abnormal arc discharge is prevented and the damaging of the narrow passage of the nozzle 1b prevented.
