Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture a high-quality reinforcing wire-contg. glass belt having high surface smoothness by putting a steel wire into a molten glass belt on molten metal from the belt surface at a place where the belt becomes about uniform in thickness in such a direction as will give predetermined sectional secondary moment.
CONSTITUTION: Reinforcing wire rod 3 made of steel wire whose sectional secondary moment is 0.007mm4 or more, esp. 0.010W0.080mm4 is put into molten glass belt 2 on molten metal bath 1 at a place where belt 2 becomes about uniform in thickness over the whole width, and rod 3 is continuously buried in parallel with drawing direction 4. At this time, reinforcing wire guide nozzle 5 is set so that axial core 6 near the tip of nozzle 5 makes certain angle θ to the normal line of the belt 2 surface toward the downstream side of direction 4. As a result, penetration of rod 3 into belt 2 is assured, and a reinforcing wire-contg. glass belt having high surface smoothness is obtd.
