Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve wire drawability and welding workability by applying the copper plating of the specific thickness on the surface of the stainless steel wire for gas shielded arc welding and depositing the specific amount of lubricating oil thereon.
CONSTITUTION: Copper plating is done on a stainless steel (SUS306) wire and the wire feed speed is measured by the tacho generator mounted to a guide roller. If the copper plating exists even by a slight amount, the variations of the wire feed speed become less. At the copper plating thickness 0.1μ or more, the variations begin to stabilize and the degree of stability does not improve even if there is a thickness of 3μ or more. Because of this, the copper plating thickness is limited to 0.1W3μ. With a wire of copper plating thickness 1.5μ, the variations in the residual amount of vegetable oil and wire feed speed begin to stabilize at 1×10-3g or more of the oil amount per 100g of the wire and the degree of stability does not improve even at 15×10-3g or more. Because of this, the oil amount is limited to 1W15×10-3g per 100g of the wire. The amount of blowhole production increases at 15×10-3g or more of the oil amount.
