CONSTITUTION: To prevent surface oxidation and contamination while mirror- finished magnetic-disk aluminum alloy substrate 1 is stored before a magnetic coating film is applied, protective film 2 is formed by applying in a dipping or spraying method a coating obtained by dissolving unhardened or half-hardened thermal- hardening resin, such as epoxy resin and phenol resin, in an organic solvent. Right before its use, film 2 is wiped off with an organic solvent to form clean magnetic coating film 3. Thus, it is made possible to form and fix uniformly the magnetic coating on the surface with any need for a hard storing method and to polish the surface right before using.
