Abstract

PURPOSE:To control effectively freezing for an underground tank installation, by sinking medium circulation pipes round the bottom and side portions of the body of the underground tank, and by flowing at first a cooling medium to promote freezing and then controlling the freezing by changing over to flowing a heating medium through the pipes. CONSTITUTION:At the initial stage in which a concrete tank 1 is used, a low temperature gas is circulated through the pipe 8 and double-pipe element 9. By detecting advance of freezing in the body 1 and the mud round it by the change of hardness of the frozen mud or other changes, circulation of the cooling medium is stopped in a suitable time, and it is changed over to a heating medium to prevent harmful freezing of the mud round the tank. In this way freezing of the concrete tank advances rapidly, increasing its strength due to airtightness given to the concrete body and, next, checking excessive freezing of the mut round the tank with the results of avoiding troubles such as frost heaving and giving effectiveness to the control.
