Abstract

PURPOSE:To discriminate an abnormal part by orienting a fixed mode when detecting abnormality occurring, by providing a receiver/driver, terminating unit and switching method to every station connected to a common transmission line by branching. CONSTITUTION:To common transmission lines, stations are connected by branching and if abnormality would happen to lines, the abnormality of the lines is recognized from the variation of data, etc., so that every station will orient the abnormal lines. In orientation mode I, terminating resistance 5a is connected to line 7b via switch 4b by putting switch 4a into operation, and terminating resistance 5b is further connected to the line of the 7a side to transmit diagnostic data from receiver/driver 6, thereby exercising a supervision over the line of the 7b side. In orientation mode II, switch 4a is placed at the original position and switch 4b is put into operation to connect terminating resistance 5b to the 7a-side line and resistance 5a to the 7b-side line; and the diagnostic data are transmitted from driver 6 to supervise the line 7a side, thereby discriminating the abnormal part.
