Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the internal cracking of the slag along with unbending by performing the tracking of the slab at the point where the slab passing in the casting machine reaches the horizontal part from the curving part and so controlling motors that optimum compressive force is applied to the slab while measuring the current values or torques of pinch roll drive motors. CONSTITUTION:At the start of casting, the specified compressive force distribution pattern 18 and compressive force set value 19 are beforehand inputted to an arithmetic unit 14. The tracking of the leading end position of the slab is done by a pulse oscillator 10 and tracking device 13 and when it reaches the specified position, the current values or torques of the motors of a curving part roll group 4 are inputted via detectors 12 into the arithmetic unit. Thence, when it reaches the position of a horizontal part roll group 5, the command 16 for controlling the currents or torques of the respective motors in such a manner that the compressive force gradually increases according to the preset pattern and the desired optimum compressive force is exerted to the slab is sent to thyristors 11.
