Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the decrease in casting speed owing to the slip of rolls by either controlling all the driving rolls with one control unit or controlling the respective driving rolls with individual control units at the time of drawing an ingot with the driving rollers in a continuous casting plant.
CONSTITUTION: Speed detecting generators TG1WTG12 are mounted to all the driving rolls M1WM12 of a continuous casting plant, and if the detection voltages thereof are positive, three pieces are detected in order of magnitude with a maximum value controller 9. Further, out of these, a minimum value is selected with a minimum value detecting controller 10, and this is adopted as a casting speed. Namely, this minimum detected voltage is applied as a casting speed to a speed controller 5 via a change-over controller 13. The 2nd method involves providing the speed detecting generators TG1WTG12 separately to all the driving rolls M1W M12, detecting the casting speed Ni by the 1st method, comparing this with the speed command Ns, inputting the difference between both to a common speed controller, distributing the output thereof as a torque command to each motor and individually controlling the driving rolls.
