Abstract

PURPOSE:To control a catenary at the optimum condition by controlling the speed in one bridle and the tension or the length of material between bridles properly at a fixed level in another bridle. CONSTITUTION:An exit side bridle 4 is driven to obtain the target line speed set in a line-speed-reference generating circuit 13 by a speed control circuit 14, as a motor 11 is controlled via a drive device 15 to obtain a speed corresponding to the target line speed. A strip tension is previously calculated by a tension calculation circuit 16, and set in a tension set circuit 17. When a line is started, at first, a bridle 3 is controlled for driving so that the strip tension may be brought near to the target tensionset in a tension set circuit 17 by a tension control system. When the deviation of the tension comes within a certain value, the control gain in a tension control circuit 8 is reduced by a gain switching circuit 28, and then, the length of material is started to be controlled at a fixed level.
