Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance cooling effect with a small amount of water used by method wherein extremely high density water jet stream collides with the inner and outer surfaces of steel tubing and part of water stream is flowed along the inner and outer surfaces of the tubing. CONSTITUTION:Onto the inner and outer surfaces of large diameter steel tubing after heated at high temperature, water jet stream is injected at one time with extremely high water density of 5X10<4>l/min/m<2> or more from nozzle end of special shape. More than 10% of water jet stream is flowed along the inner and outer surfaces of the steel tubing. The method provides a high cooling speed without reducing strength and toughness and results in reduced amount of water used.
