Abstract

PURPOSE:The rolling mill which is so constituted as to permit efficient roll changing by providing the plural calibers of the same shape to respective vertical rolls, placing the yoke assembled with a roll assembly in a cartridge and moving the same up and down and locking it to the housing. CONSTITUTION:A vertical roll 1 has two calibers 1a, 1b and constitutes a roll assembly 3 together with one set of upper and lower chocks 2. It is assembled to and supported by a yoke 4 by means of chock tightening cylinders 5 and tightening pawls 6. The foregoing yoke 4 is mounted slidably in the roll radial direction in a cartridge 10 and undergoes adjustment of the screw-down position by a screw-down device 13. The cartridge 10 is made elevatable in the vertical direction and lockable in the specified position by a jack device 17 in a stationary housing 14, whereby the changing and positioning of the calibers of the vertical roll with respect to a position of horizontal table 20 may be readily accomplished.
