Abstract
PURPOSE: To efficiently separate blue vitriol from a copper electrolytic soln. by a single-stage treatment in a settling tank with a small-sized blue vitriol separator by concentrating the soln.; cooling it; and adding a specified amt. of a polyacrylamide type flocculant.
CONSTITUTION: An electrolytic soln. is concentrated from 2l to about 1l, and to this conc. soln. is added a 0.1wt% soln. of a polyacrylamide type nonionic or anionic polymer flocculant while cooling to about 20°C and slightly agitating so that the flocculant concn. becomes 0.2W4ppm. By continuously feeding this mixed soln. into a settling tank settled matter is taken out of the tank bottom, and the supernatant is allowed to overflow from the top. About 100% blue vitriol is separated in the settled matter, and little blue vitriol is contained in the supernatant. Thus, blue vitriol settleable at a high speed and easy to filter is separated.
