Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic head which has a gap of regular length and causes little chipping, by retaining a pair of ferrite chips on which a thin film for preventing diffusion on the gap surface, at the interval which becomes a regular gap length, and seaming them by pouring melted glass into the gap.
CONSTITUTION: The diffusion preventive thin films 4 whose thickness is 0.05μ to approximetely one fourth of the gap length are formed by sticking the material (silicon oxide, chrome, etc.) which has a large adhering force to ferrite material and causes little mutual diffusion to the gap forming surface of ferrite chips 1 by means of vapor deposition or sputtering, etc. Subsequently, the aforesaid chips 1 and 1 are made to be opposite to the gap surface, the interval is retained as a desired gap length, and after that, the chips 1 and 1 are joined by pouring melted glass 2 into the gap.
