Abstract

PURPOSE: To effect the detection of powder quantity simply, reliably and promptly by blowing air under preset pressure thereby to fluidize the powder.
CONSTITUTION: A powder container 1 is made to have a double bottom construction such that its upper bottom 2 is formed with a number of pores 5 which are uniformly distributed and that the space between the upper and lower bottoms 2 and 3 is connected with an air supply pipe B which is equipped with a needle valve 4. A float switch 6 is arranged above the container. Air under preset pressure is pumped into the space between the two bottoms 2 and 3 and is blown upward from the pores 5 so that the powder A is fluidized to float a float 7. In accordance with the floating degree, the switch 6 is turned on and off to detect the level a of the powder thereby to detect whether the powder A reaches a preset quantity or not. In place of the switch 6, incidentally, a pressure switch 9 is arranged in the vicinity of the inner bottom of the container and may be turned on and off by the pressure which is established when the powder A is fluidized by the air blow.
