Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a gas having a high calorific value, by effecting the low-temperature carbonization and hydrogenation of coal effectively with a moving bed gasifier of specific inner structure.
CONSTITUTION: The gasifying raw material F is fed from the hopper 2 and passed through the moving bed hydrogenation gasifier 1 in the form of a layer from the top downward. Hydrogen gas is introduced from the pipe 8 into the bottom to rise the moving bed countercurrently in the descending bed. Hydrogenation occurs mainly in the intermediate zone B, and the formed high-temperature gas is fed from the heat exchange pipes 3 to the gas collecting chamber 4. Low-temperature carbonization is effected mainly in the upper zone A to avoid the direct contact with a high- temperature gas. Hydrogen gas is preheated in the lower temperature zone C to a temperature necessary for hydrogenation (mainly methanation) in the zone B. The formed gas is partly circulated through the space in the upper part of the gasifier to flow down and decompose tar and to eliminate the tar trouble.
