Abstract

PURPOSE: To gasify a carbonaceous fuel in high efficiency, with little discharge of pollutant and tar from the system, by recovering the tar, etc. produced in the gasification process, and introducing the recovered tar, etc. into the zone for the high-temperature combustion of char under a fluidized bed gasification zone.
CONSTITUTION: A carbonaceous material 1 is fed to the gasification zone 2A and fluidized by steam 4 and hot gas produced in the combustion zone 2B and composed mainly of CO2. The carbonaceous material is decomposed in the gasification zone 2A to a gas rich in H2 and CH4, and tar and char. The char is completely burnt in the zone 2B by an oxygen-containing gas 3, and the gas and tar produced in the zone 2A are extracted through a pipe 9 together with the dust, etc. produced in the zone 2B. The dust, etc. collected by a cyclone 18 is slurrified with the tar separated by a gas-liquid separator 36 via an indirect heat-exchanger 22 and a ventury scrubber 30, and the slurry is recycled to the zone 2B.
