Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately detect the speed of a moving object by utilizing an induced voltage obtained by moving a conductor wire in a magnetic field in accordance with the movement of the object.
CONSTITUTION: Yokes C1, C2 fixed to a permanent magnet M are opposed to each other at their free end portions such as to form a magnetic gap therebetween. A DC magnetic field H is generated in the magnetic gap, in which the number of magnetic flux is linearly varied with respect to variations in distance in a direction X. A conductor is provided in the magnetic field H such that the conductor is extended at right angles to the direction X. When the conductor is adapted to be moved in the magnetic field H in accordance with the movement of a moving object, the speed V of the object and a voltage Eg induced in the conductor have relation Eg=αV. In other words, the speed V is in proportion to the voltage Eg. Therefore, when the conductor or conductors are used as a detector D, the speed of a moving object can be detected by checking a voltage which is in accordance with the speed of the moving body. This detector permits omitting the use of a rotary body, and causes no measurement errors unlike a conventional detector in which measurement errors occur due to a loosened wire. In fact, this detector permits an accurate detection of the speed of moving object.
