Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce output fluctuations owing to deivation in the non-detection direction by applying a bias magnetic field to the two ferromagnetic material members which are orthogonally disposed and connected, in the direction of 45° to the lengthwise direction of their magnetism sensing parts.
CONSTITUTION: The bias magnet 4 affixed to the ferromagnetic magnetoresistive element 3 composed of the two orthogonally disposed and connected ferromagnetic material members 1, 2 applies a bias magnetic field within the plane of the resistance element 3 in the direction assuming 45° to the lengthwise direction of its magnetism sensing part. A magnetism generating material 5, disposed in the origin position, generates the signal magnetic field in the direction orthogonal to the bias magnetic field. With such constitution, the magnetism sensing characteristics of the case when the ferromagnetic magnetoresistive element 3 is moved in the arrow X direction and is passed in the signal magnetic field generated by the magnetism generating material 5 sense to the intensities of the applied magnetic field and exhibit the characteristics of magnetic flux response type, thus the defect that the set position of the origin is limited to the end part of the measuring range or the detection direction of the origin is restricted may be eliminated.
