Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove arsenic within hot water and utilize heat energy in multipurpose fields by a method wherein arsenic within geothermal hot water is deposited and co-precipitated by ferric hydroxide and the ferric hydroxide suspended substance is separated from hot water by a mangetic element.
CONSTITUTION: When ferric hydroxide precipitated sludge formed by utilizing iron bacteria or basic ferric sulphate is added to geothermal hot water containing arsenic, arsenic is adsorbed to this ferric hydroxide. This hot water containing ferric hydroxide suspension is introduced to a high gradient magnetic separating apparatus and arsenic adsorbed ferric hydroxide particles are magnetically caught by a magnetic element to obtain a hot water not containing arsenic. Thereby, arsenic is effectively separated without using a precipitating tank and the energy of geothermal hot water is utilized in multipurpose fields.
