Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the iron removing efficiency of an electromagnetic filter by adding a reductant to an aq. iron suspension and passing pH controlled water to be treated through the electromagnetic filter. CONSTITUTION:To separate and remove suspended iron in water magnetically by an electromagnetic filter, a reductant substance selected from hydrazine and salts thereof, sulfite and salts thereof, thiosulphate, ascorbic acid and salts threrof is added to the aq. iron suspension to be treated and pH of the water is adjusted to 8-12, thereafter passed through the electromagnetic filter. According to need, further chelating substance selected from phosphate salts, aminocarboxylic acid or salts thereof and the like is added.
