Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of internal defects such as shrinkage cavities and pinholes by forming a well cavity part in the injection advance limit portion of the plunger tip.
CONSTITUTION: A fixed amount of molten metal 16 is poured into an injection sleeve 14 and a moving die 11 is moved to the position of the die clamping tangent l. Next, a plunger tip 15 is advanced by a plunger rod 18 to fill the molten metal 16 into a die cavity 13 at a low speed. The molten metal 16 injected into the injection sleeve 14 makes contact with the inside wall and immediately begins to solidify, thereby forming an initial solidification film 16a. This solidification film 16a is subsequently broken as the plunger tip 15 advances and the tip 15 advances to the end of the sleeve 14. By its succeeding advance, the deposit portion of the solidification film 16a is sent into the well cavity 19 and therefore the resistance is considerably reduced.
