Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure the control for the oscillation frequency without lowering the Q of the oscillator using the dielectric resonator, by controlling the intensity of the magnetic field which is applied to the ferrite provided near the dielectric resonator. CONSTITUTION:The microwave oscillator featuring an extremely high Q is stored into metal case 12 via dielectric resonator 8. Then ferrite 13 is loaded onto resonator 8 to apply the magnetic field to ferrite 13 via magnetic circuit 18 comprising U- shaped iron bar 14 and coil 15. The magnetic permeability of ferrite 13 varies with control given to the intensity of the magnetic field applied, and thus the resonance frequency of resonator 8 varies to then give the variation to the oscillation frequency. As a result, the oscillation frequency can be varied without lowering the high Q of the resonator but by using ferrite 13 featuring a small amount of the high- frequency loss.
