Abstract

PURPOSE:To miniaturize a magnetic circuit and to reduce its power consumption, by loading ferrite in a cavity made along the center axis of a dielectric resonator in a microwave voltage-controlled oscillator. CONSTITUTION:On a substrate 1 for microwaves, microstrip lines 2 and 3 are provided nearly in parallel; and an oscillating transistor 4 is connected to one terminal of the line 2, and a terminating resistor 6 to the other end via a capacitor 5. Between the lines 2 and 3, a support 7 of a dielectric with a low dielectric constant is provided on the substrate 1, and on the support 7, a dielectric resonator 8' of a dielectric with a high dielectric constant is provided. In a cavity part provided along the center axis of the resonator 8', ferrite 9' is loaded. The oscillation output of the line 2 is coupled with the line 3 via the resonator 8' and led out from a terminal 10. A magnetic circuit 17 is composed of a channel-shaped iron piece 13 and coil 14 and a magnetic field is applied to the ferrite 9'. Thus, the magnetic circuit is miniaturized and its power consumption is reduced.
