Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately retain the relative position relationship between the light receiver and the light emitting unit by forming the light receiver, a light reflecting mirror, the light emitting unit on a semiconductor substrate and readily coupling the emitted light and received light. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor crystal 3 is used as a reflecting mirror. When the main surface 13A is at (100) in plane, a wall opening surface 13B between at (111) in plane to be constant at an angle theta=54.74 deg.. This main surface is plated to form a mirror surface 13C having small size and accurate surface. The crystal 13 and an optical fiber 12 is secured to predetermined position of the substrate 11. Thus, light is communicated between a photodetector 11A and the optical fiber 12 accurately. It is preferably to provide a V-shaped groove on the fiber fixing surface of the substrate 11. According to this structure, the light emitting unit and the light receiver can be accurately positioned to couple the light without using connector or the like.
