Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a material for a spark machining electrode of high economical efficiency and machining speed and low consumption, by causing grains of W-Mo solid solution to be contained in an Ag-Mo or Cu-Mo alloy. CONSTITUTION:X% by weight of Mo grains and Y% by weitht of W-Mo solid solution grains (MoxWy), whose weight ratio Mo/W is 0.005 to 0.25, are caused to be contained in Ag or Cu so that (X+Y) is 30 to 90 and X/Y is 0.1 to 10. If W grains are added to the Ag or Cu besides said grains, the weight percentage Z of the W is so determined that (X+Y+Z) is 30 to 90, X/(Y+Z) is 0.1 to 10 and Z/Y is 20 or less. The material is thus produced. 5% or less by weight of an iron-family element may be added to the material.
