Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an alloy with superior drawability, electrospark characteristics and less consumption by adding Zn an Zr to Cu to provide a specified composition.
CONSTITUTION: This alloy for wire cut electrospark machining electrodes consists of 11W40% Zn, 0.1W3% Zr and the balance Cu. This alloy has superior drawability, and wiry electrodes manufactured from this alloy have superior electrospark machining characteristics (electrode consumption and machining speed) and are consumed slightly and uniformly during electrospark machining. Accordingly, the quantity of electrosaprk per unit vol. is increased, and the finished surface state and dimensional accuracy of a machined product are improved.
