Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent ion leakage in deionization by ion exchange treatment by deionizing a mixed liquor consisting of phosphoric acid, alcohol and water with a strongly acidic cation exchange resin previously washed with an alcoholic soln.
CONSTITUTION: When a mixed liquor consisting of phosphoric acid with a P2O5 concn. of 5% or more obtd. by extracting wet process phosphoric acid, a 1W4C alcohol and 30% or less of water is purified by deionization with a strongly acidic cation exchange resin to remove a very small amt. of cation in the liquor, the liquor is passed through the resin previously washed with an alcoholic soln. whose water content is lower than that of the liquor and whose capacity is larger than that of the resin. The 1W4C alcohol used is an aliph. alcohol such as methanol, ethanol, propanol or butanol.
