Abstract

PURPOSE: To make use of the reset circuit of a microcomputer for a car battery power circuit, etc., efficiently by performing the secure reset operation of the microcomputer even when a power voltage falls abnormally, by providing a voltage decision circuit which forms a short circuit across a capacitor.
CONSTITUTION: Voltage decision circuit 4 is provided. With a car key switch ON, a voltage across regulated power circuit 3 rises from zero (point A) toward regulated power voltage 5V, and Zener voltage V2 of Zener diode 4a turns transistor Tr's 4b and 4f OFF and ON respectively in a low-voltage period (between A and B), so that microcomputer μC7 will stay reset during period A-B. After point B, the power voltage of μC7 increases above T2 and while Tr4b turns ON, 4f turns OFF. Capacitor 5, on the other hand, starts charging with a time constant more than the reset time of μC7 to reset μC7, and consequently the reset is released approximately at point C when the charge of capacitor 5 ends, so that electric load 8 will normally be controlled after point C by a signal from the I/C terminal of μC7.
