Abstract

PURPOSE: To form the colored film of superior corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance by electrolyzing the Al or Al alloy having been formed with a porous oxide film through anodic oxidation in an aqueous sulfuric acid solution containing heavy metal salts, with the same as anode, under the DC constant voltage below the foregoing electrolysis voltage then intermitting DC constant voltage electrolysis with the same as cathode.
CONSTITUTION: Al or Al alloy is subjected to primary electrolysis treatment, i.e., anodic oxidation treatment, in an aqueous solution of 80W300g/l sulfuric acid (primary electrolyte) to let the porous oxide film of the target thickness be formed. Next, this treated matter being held intact without rinsing is subjected as anode to the DC constant voltage electrolysis in an aqueous solution of 30W200g/l sulfuric acid (secondary electrolytic coloring solution) containing heavy metal salts (e.g., stannous sulfate) being coloring metal salts at the DC constant voltage lower by 2W 5V than the primary electrolysis voltage, i.e., of 8W15V, whereby the activation of the film is achieved. Thence, with this treated matter as cathode, it is intermittently subjected to the DC constant voltage electrolysis approximately equal to the primary electrolysis (12W25V), whereby the even dark color film is formed.
