Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively reducing the area of the blank of a large section with less number of rolling devices and roll the same to the material of a smaller section by using the specific rolling rolls consisting of eccentric rings and making the rolling mills movable in parallel with the material advance direction.

CONSTITUTION: The rolling rolls 1 (2, 3, 4) which are formed as eccentric rings and are so constituted that the barrel length width b₀ of the portion being a length diameter L with respect to the rotating center axis E is narrow and the barrel length width B of the portion being a short diameter S is wide (Figs. a, b) are disposed in opposition to the material to be rolled 5 and are so disposed as to be parallel movable in the advance axis direction of the material to be rolled 5 (Figs. c, d). When the rolling is started while the rolls 1W4 are being revolved at the rotation peripheral speed higher than the feed speed of the material to be rolled 5, the rolling mills reduce the area of the material 5 while moving this so as to pull the same and when the face-to-face distance between the rolls becomes larger than the material 5, the material is once put into a no-load state and is then pushed back in the direction opposite to the advance direction of the material 5 by hydraulic cylinders or the like, thence again the material 5 is pressure-contacted and the rolling work is repeatedly continued.
