Abstract

PURPOSE:To make possible the shape control for obtaining the sheet metal with sheet gauge uniform in the direction of breadth, depending on a simple mechanism, by letting the axes of upper and lower work rolls or backup rolls correspondingly to the rolling condition cross at same angle in opposite directions perpendicularly to the rolling direction. CONSTITUTION:In a rolling mill, in which two or more planes including roll axis can exist, such as the four high mill for instance, the planes including axes of upper and lower backup rolls 1 and 2 are inclined so as to make angles + theta4 - theta4 against the planes including axes of work rolls 3 and 4; and this angle theta4 is controlled correspondingly to such rolling condition as the rolling load, the breadth of rolled sheet, the initial crown of rolled sheet, the diameter of rolling roll, the drum lenght of rolling roll, the crown of rolling roll, the wear of rolling roll, the shaft diameter of roll, the shaft length of roll, etc.; hereby, the rolled product with uniform gauge distribution in the direction of breadth is obtained.
