Abstract
PURPOSE:To diminish the size of the fish tail part, at applying an edging work to a slab, by symmetrically arranging in two stages an upper and a lower rolling stands provided with rolls of small and large diameters or of the same diameter, driven to rotate at different circumferential speeds from each other. CONSTITUTION:The titled rolling apparatus comprises the rolling stands 1 and 2 arranged symmetrically in upper and lower two stages. The said rolling stand 1 is provided with an equidiametral high speed roll 3 or a large diameter different speed roll 3', and an equidiametral low speed roll 4 or a small diameter different speed roll 4'. The rolling stand 2 is provided with an equidiametral low speed roll 4 or a small diameter different speed roll 4' and an equidiametral high speed roll 3 or a large diameter different speed roll 3'. A strong reduction in breadth is given to a slab 5 by the rolling stand 1 of this rolling apparatus, and then, a rolling work is applied by the rolling stand 2; hereby, the broadside spread 7 on both sides of the top of the slab 5 becomes very small so that the yield is improved.
