Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the coupling method of optical fibers which obviates the occurrence of the fluctuations in the imaging position owing to plug mounting and dismounting and produces less laser noise by forming the optical fibers and lens- form converging medium to an integral structure with their refractive indices being made continuous. CONSTITUTION:Exit light from a semiconductor laser 1 passes through a lens-form converging medium 2 and is entered to an optical fiber 4. The exit side end face 2b of the converging medium 2 is integrally contacted and coupled to the incident end face 4a of the optical fiber 4 and is contained in a plug 5. Then, the coverging medium 2 and optical fiber 4 are connected without any gap and therefore there is no reflected light at the incident end face of the optical fibers and the fluctuations in the imaging position owing to the mounting and dismounting of the plug do not occur. Thereby, the optical fiber which produces less noise of semiconductor layer and does not cause the fluctuations in the noise level owing to the deviation in the imaging position may be obtained.
