Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate granules to individual segments, by a method wherein granules(from which over-skins are removed) of citrus fruits are flowed down through a fluid trough together with boiling water to rise the temperature of the granules and drop together with cold water onto a shaking wire netting composed of two plates.
CONSTITUTION: Granules from which over-skins are removed are flowed down through a fluid trough 2 together with boiling water supplied from a pipe 8 by means of a conveyor 1, and transferred to a wire netting conveyor 3 while heating. After dehydrating, the granules drop into a segment separator 4. While cold water from a pipe 11 is injected to the granules, the granules are passed through a segment separator 10 provided with a spirally shaking wire netting part 10 (an upper plate of 10W15mm square and a lower plate of 5W8mm square). Individual seqments are separated and received into a basket 5.
