Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve wear resistance of a bearing alloy without decreasing hardness, fatigue resistance, and adaptability, by addn. of specific elements to an Al-Sn bearing alloy contg. Cr, and by dispersing and precipitating them. CONSTITUTION:To an Al-Sn type bearing comprising 3.5-35 % Sn, 0.1-1.0 % Cr are added 1-10 % one or more members selected from the group consisting of Si, Mn, Sb, Ti, Ni, Fe, Zr, Mo, Co, in total of 10 % or less. Further <=3 % Cu or Mg, and in addn., <=9 % one or more members selected from the group consisting of Pb, Bi Zn are added. Addn. of Cr to the Al-Sn type bearing alloy increases hardness, prevents softening at high temp., hinders increase in grain size. Addn. of Si, Mn, or other metals causes these simple substances, intermetallic compounds to precipitate, so that wear resistance is improved. Addn. of Cu, Mg allows to prevent decrease in hardness at high temp., and addn. of Pb etc. improves lubricating property of Sn.
