Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent dropping of engine output at the time of low-load operation of a diesel engine, by arranging superchargers in a plurality of stages, connecting a motor-driven, auxiliary blower to the superchargers, and providing valves for selective use of these superchargers.
CONSTITUTION: A high-pressure supercharger H and a low-pressure supercharger L are connected operatively to engine E. In intake passage 6, there are provided in series a cooler C, check valve 10, high-pressure blower Hb, cooler C, selector valve 7 and low-pressure blower Lb. In exhaust passage 5, on the other hand, there are provided in series a selector valve 8, high-pressure turbine Ht and low-pressure turbine Lt. Further, in a branch intake passage 4, there is provided an auxiliary blower 3 driven by motor 2. In the above arrangement, motor 2 and selector valves 7, 8 are both driven by pressure switch 11 which is operated in response to the intake pressure. When the output of engine E is dropped, auxiliary blower 3 is set into operation whereas operation of high-pressure supercharger H is stopped.
