Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform the captioned monitoring of spot welding with good accuracy by judging the non-defective and defective of welding from the ratio between the 1st peak of the effective value signal of AE generated during welding and the 2nd peak of the AE signal generated after supply of welding current.
CONSTITUTION: The AE generated from welding material 2 is detected by the AE sensor 3 mounted to an electrode part 1 and is amplified by amplifiers 4, 6. The AE waveforms having been amplified are detected with a detecting circuit 7 and are converted to effective value energy by an effective value conversion circuit 8, whereby the AE effective value voltage 1st peak value during supplying of welding current and the 2nd peak value after the current supply are detected. Thereafter AE peak effective ratio (2nd peak value/1st peak value ×100) is outputted by an arithmetic circuit 9 and is compared with a set value 10 in a decision circuit 11, whereby the non-defective and defective of the welding are determined.
