Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect automatically the pinhole or crack of goods made of insulating material by equipping the 1st electrode in the goods to be tested and the 2nd electrode in contact with both flanks of the goods.
CONSTITUTION: As high voltage applied to product 2 to be tested is increased, electric discharge starts at a certain point in time. A discharging current at this time flows into the 2nd electrode 7 by way of the external part of product 2 to be tested and is fed back to high-voltage generator 1 via feedback terminal 9. However, if the product to be tested has an internal pinhole or crack, insulation destruction is caused and the current converges into the part of the pinhole having caused the insulation destruction and is then fed back to high-voltage generator 1 via the 1st electrode 5. In this case, current sensor 6 connected to the 1st electrode 5 senses the discharging current to detect the pinhole or crack existing. Additionally, the output of this current sensor 6 can be used as optical and sound display signals.
