Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide filler talc for improving impact strength of thermoplastic resin by firing talc at a specified temperature and classifying according to specified diameters, where the talc has the ratio of half-widths of (020) to (004) faces in X-ray diffraction pattern being about 1.2 or less.
CONSTITUTION: Talc as synthetic resin filler has a ratio of half-widths of (020) to (004) faces in X-ray diffraction pattern being about 1.2 or more and 80% or more the talc has diameters less than 10μ. The talc havig the half-width ratio less than 1.2 is fired at about 200°C or higher, crushed and classified to provide the object talc. This talc is a reinforcing filler which improved tensile and bending properties of thermoplastic resin, reduces anisotropy, and improves impact strength. When used with inorganic filler, it is effective in improving electric, thermal, and mechanical properties.
