Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A novel basic peptide antibiotic 02-8: amorphous white powder decomposing at 130W140°C, readily soluble in water, hard soluble or insoluble in organic solvents, giving positive Sakaguchi's and Pauli's reactions and negative Molish's and Benedict's tests and containing in the amino acid analysis, an unidentified substance giving positive nitroprusside reaction, a compound giving positive Sakaguchi's reaction and aminodeoxy sugar other than glycine and β-lysine.
USE: Said substance shows antibiotic activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacterium.
PREPARATION: A microorganism that belongs to Arthrobacter and can produce said antibiotic 02-8, e.g., Arthrobacter.SP.TT02-8 (FERM-4793), is inoculated in an enriched culture medium and preferably cultured by aerated spinner culture technique to form the antibiotic 02-8 in the culture, which is collected.
