NEW MATERIAL:A water-soluble acidic antibiotic C-19393H2 and its salt having the following properties: 1) White powder. 2) Elementary analysis C, 45.34±1.0; H, 4.98±0.5; N, 7.48±0.5, Na, 6.15±1.0; S, 8.51±1.0. 3) Molecular weight 426W322 calculated as one Na in one molecule. 4) Positive to Ehrlich's reaction and KMnO4; negative to ninhydrin, ferric chloride and Sakaguchi's reactions.
USE: An antimicrobial against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
PROCESS: A strain of Streptomyces sp.IFO 13886 (FERM-P No.4774) belonging to the genus Streptomyces is incubated in a culture medium by the spinner culture method with aeration at 15W32°C and pH4W8 for 24W144hr. The resulting supernatant liquid is collected and purified.
