USE: Medical and argicultural bactericide effective to Gram-positive and Gram- negative bacteria, or their intermediates.
PROCESS: BN-227 substance is prepared by culturing Pseudomonas sp-BN-227 strain (FERM-P No.4357) in a liquid medium by agitation technique, submerged and aerated technique, etc., filtering the medium, adsorbing the filtrate with an adsorbent, eluting the adsorbed effective component with 50% acetone/water mixture, and purifying the elute.
