Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:The antibiotic substance B-1008 containing spernidine [H2N (CH2)3NH(CH2)4NH2]as a constitutent and having the following physical and chemical characteristics: (1) color and shape, the freeze-dried free base is white powder; (2) solubility, easily soluble in water, insoluble in ethyl acetate, chloroform, ethyl ether, etc.; (3) color reactions, decolors KMnO4, positive to ninhydrin reaction, etc., negative to Sakaguchi reaction, etc., aqueous solution develops red color with ferric chloride; (4) specific rotation,[α]D+82° (water 1%); (5) elemental analysis, C 52.8%, H 5.78%, N 13.99%, etc.
USE: Antimicrobial agent.
