Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable quantitative observation without decomposing an educed substance in a metal material, by using a non-aqueous solvent type electrolyte to dissolve only the matrix of the surface of the metal material.
CONSTITUTION: A non-aqueous solvent consisting of acetylacetone-tetramethylammonium-chloride methyl alcohol series, triethanolamine-tetramethylammonium- chloride methyl alcohol series, or the like, is used for an electrolyte to electrolyze a metal material by a constant potential and a constant quantity of electricity. Since such a non-aqueous solvent type electrolyte makes the density of electrical current constant above a certain potential and an educed substance comparatively stably present, differently from a conventional aqueous solution type electrolyte, a facet pit production potential region can be widened. The size of microscopic facet pit can be optionally controlled depending on the grain size of the metal material by altering the potential set for the electrolysis.
