Abstract
PURPOSE:To let subzero treatment be accomplished with good efficiency by setting the flow control of cooling medium and its total use amount and timers at the intermittent jet injection of cooling medium according to the form of the material to be cooled in the subzero treatment of forged steel hardened roll. CONSTITUTION:The material to be treated 3 such as forged steel hardened roll is put in a cooling cell 1 for subzero treatment and cooling medium such as liquid nitrogen is jet-injected from the multiple injection nozzles 5 attached to a cooling medium feed pipe 6. Plural force circulators 16 are provided in the cell to spirally blow the refrigerating air to the outside of the material to be treated 3 and their operations are accomplished by opening and closing of a gate valve 7 by an automatic controller 12, whereby the temperature in the cell is controlled. In this case, in order to evenly cool the material to the target temperature and perform efficient utilization of the cooling medium, the cooling treatment is accomplished based on the time program of the use amount of the cooling medium and the injection of cooling medium according to the form of the material to be treated, whereby the subzero treatment may be efficiently accomplished without waste of liquid nitrogen.
