Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove the variance of in-plane temp. in cooling of thick steel plate, by dividing a masking device movable in the direction of the width of a steel plate into plural pieces in the longitudinal direction of the steel plate, synchronizing masking plates with the tracking of the thick steel plate, and then carrying out cooling while separately regulating the moving quantity in a plate-width direction. CONSTITUTION:A masking device movable in the width direction of a thick steel plate 1 is divided into plural pieces in the longitudinal direction of the steel plate 1. Subsequently, by this masking device, respective masking plates 3 are moved in a width direction in the course of cooling the steel plate 1. Further, when the cooling time for the upper part of the steel plate 1 at the edge of the steel plate 1 and its vicinity is two-dimensionally controlled, the steel plate 1 expands and contracts according to the degree of undercooling. By this method, the temp. distribution of the steel plate after the conclusion of cooling can be uniformized.
